The Holiday Season is upon us and it is time to to celebrate! What is better than festivities and running?! it’s the perfect time to get in a little exercise with all those extra cookies, cakes, pies, and candy that we all be eating.
The great thing about running in December is all the Holiday-themed races! I have picked out 15 races to run in Virginia and Washington, D.C. that look like a blast! Hopefully you will find a festively-themed run near you.
Each year, the Marine Corps 10k and Marathon takes place in late October in Arlington, VA and Washington, D.C. This year’s race took place on Sunday, October 22, 2017. This year I signed up again for the 10k, along with my dad and his friend.
Bishop’s Event’s Burke Lake 5k & 10k took place on October 14, 2017 in Fairfax Station, VA! The event was in partnership with the American Cancer Society and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer for Breast Cancer Awareness month and took place through the trails of Burke Lake Park.
Looking for a festive winter race? The Jingle All the Way 5k & 15k is put on by Pacers Running and takes place on December 10, 2017 in Washington, D.C. Join me for this fast, flat, and festive run! Costumes are encouraged!
The Prince William Half Marathon was held on October 1, 2017 in Bristow, VA. The race was close to where I live, and I knew a lot of people who were running it. It had received good reviews in previous years, so I signed up!
I had to take a long hiatus on my running due to my pregnancy. I did not have the energy to run while pregnant, so it has been about six months since I’ve been really active. That is about to change, though, because I have a lot of upcoming races to prepare for!
My race schedule for the year is filling up, and I am especially looking forward to the following races.
