Each year, Virginia has a state-wide conference for music teachers. This year, the event was held at the Homestead in Hot Springs, VA. Driving the 3.5 hours, we traveled past a lot of cows and run down towns. We drove over a mountain and through the woods, and then we arrived at this glorious building.Dinner each night was a buffet. The first night, the only thing I could eat from it was this most delicious tomato and basil soup. I must have had about 4 bowls of this soup. The chef also made me a special dish of quinoa and vegetables. It was pretty tasty, but not a lot of food and I was still hungry! The second night, I received the same entree. Not a big deal because I was happy to have something to eat, but again, I was still hungry.
While not schmoozing or attending a few sessions, I went on a hike around the property, and headed to the horse stables. Luckily, the horses were out, and very friendly. I spent a lot of time hanging out and snuggling with the horses!
