Mother’s Day 5k
Mother’s Day brought a 5k race down in Fredericksburg, VA and was put on by Bishop’s Events. This race began and finished at Old Mill Park, and went by the river, which I think is so pretty! Last year I ran the Glowstick 5k at this location and remember it to be a good course.
Bishop’s Events are easy going and you can pick your bib up the morning of the race. There were also a lot of people registering on site. This race was sponsored by UMFS, providing community services such as foster care and adoption, and benefited Relay for Life.
Maestro and I went out to run this race together for our Mother’s Day activity. There were a lot of families running this race! It was a very humid day so we took it a bit slow and just enjoyed ourselves and the pretty view. The course is pretty flat except around the half way point. There is a part that goes downhill, you turn around (with a water stop) and run back up. But it is a quick hill and not too terrible, Because of the heat Maestro certainly got tuckered out after the race and went home and took a nice nap 🙂
Our final time was 43:17, which is actually pretty good for Maestro and it being a hot morning! I run a lot of Bishop’s Events races, so make sure to check out their schedule and maybe I will see you out there!
