Vegan & GF in NYC – Two Tablespoons

While in New York City for the Blogger Bash and Blogher Conferences, I knew that I had to check out some of the local vegan and gluten-free selections that the city offers. I stumbled on this food stall/cafe while walking from an event back to my hotel. Located in Greeley Square is a huge food stall offering (which I believe is over for the summer – bummer). I was really hungry and was looking at all the stalls hoping I would find even the littlest…

Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC – Disney Springs Orlando

Gluten-free and vegan people rejoice! Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC (formerly BabyCakes) is officially open in The Landing area of Disney Springs)! Yay! Back when this bakery was BabyCakes , it was just a counter service in Downtown Disney. Now, it is a full bakery located in a nice new area of Disney Springs. This bakery is 100% gluten-free. It is also dairy-free, vegan, and soy-free. There is tons of yummy stuff to choose from. My favorites are the cookie sandwiches and the donuts. This cookies & cream…

Be Our Guest Lunch at Disney’s Magic Kingdom

One of the most coveted reservations at Disney World seems to be at Be Our Guest in the Magic Kingdom. They recently opened the restaurant for breakfast, which I have yet to try out, but I did get a last-minute (I checked the My Disney Experience app at 11:30 while I was in line for a meet & greet with Winnie the Pooh and got a reservation for 30 minutes later!) lunch reservation. Be Our Guest – Lunch I checked in at the reservation table,…

Kona Cafe at Disney’s Polynesian Village

It was almost 5 p.m. and I was hungry for dinner. There really is nothing that I can eat at Magic Kingdom, so I hopped over to the Polynesian Village Resort for dinner. I was hoping that I would be able to get a spot at Kona Cafe, since I was by myself, but they were not taking walk-ups. Luckily, if you could find a seat at Kona Island (the coffee bar right next to Kona Cafe), you could order off of the same menu. The seating is bar-style seating (so no tables), but that worked for me.

Rise Gluten-Free Bakery

Last year, a new bakery opened up in the Adams Morgan area of Washington, D.C. You may have remember me posting about it because it is such a big deal! This is not just any bakery, it is a dedicated gluten-free one! There isn’t another one like it around this area! I recently had a chance to take a trip to Rise Gluten-free Bakery and was excited about everything that they had. They just added some Rise Pies, and I was super excited to see a…

Butternut Squash Urad Dal Curry

I am really bad at meal planning and grocery shopping, so most of the time I have to rummage around my kitchen and be creative with what to make for dinner. Luckily I stock up on staples: rice, beans, and long-lasting vegetables. I was looking for something to throw in the slow cooker, and saw that I had a few things to work with: urad dal, butternut squash, and coconut milk. It sounded do-able, so I got to work. Really, though, this was super quick and…
