Joining Hearts for Heidi 10k

Nathan and I ran the Joining Hearts for Heidi Trail Run 10k. It took place at Prince William Forrest Park and was a VERY hilly run. At some points, I felt it was more like hiking than running! I was ready to run 2:1 intervals, but that quickly ended with all the hills. It was more of a run down the hills, die walking up the hills, and run/recover on the flat parts. My RunKeeper was going crazy with its tracking, saying that I ran…

Brambleton Ribbon Run 10k

On Saturday, Nathan and I ran the Brambleton Ribbon Run 10k! This was Nathan’s first 10k! He needed to do one to get a time to submit for Dumbo Double Dare and Wine & Dine. I was festively dressed as Minnie Mouse and met up with a fellow Dopey runner, Leanne čÖé It was windy and freezing at the start of the race, and we didn’t warm up for about 2 miles. This race took place around a town center and neighborhood. The neighborhood was…

Disney’s Minnie 10k

Friday morning brought another 3am wakeup call for the Inaugural Minnie 10k. This race took place on the roads outside of Epcot, Epcot, and the Boardwalk. Running on the road part was a little boring, but it got a lot better once we got to Epcot. I decided that I could keep pace enough (but still not fast) to stop for a few pictures. I saw Mushu in China, which was awesome because I haven’t seen him before. I also got a picture with the…

REHAU Resolution Race 10k

I was up early on New Year’s Day getting ready for my first race of the year. I drove an hour to Leesburg, VA for the┬áREHAU Resolution Race. This race took place through the┬áMorven Park Estate. It was a hilly, but beautiful run through fields and past horses :)Before the race, I hung out in the staging area of the Ida Lee Rec Center. There were tables of food and water, and live music. It was fun to listen to some up-beat singing and guitar…

Ashburn Farm 10k

This race was on Thanksgiving morning. Since I don’t have to deal with cooking a turkey, I was able to leave and not worry about dinner not being ready in time. This race was about 45 minutes away in Ashburn, VA. Because of the name “Ashburn Farm”, I assumed that this race would be around a farm of some sort, but in reality, that is just the name of the neighborhood that it was a part of. Ha! It was very cold this morning. There were…

Turkey Trot 10k

This is the same Ridge Runners Turkey Trot that I did last year with Marty. Check out the previous race recap┬áhere!I decided to dress up in the same garb as last year – my turkey feather tights, my homemade turkey shirt, and my tutu. I got a lot of compliments on my outfit, and I was best dressed! LOL!Madre also ran the race this year. She did awesome! She finished in 1:30:08, with an overall pace of 14:33! Her fastest time ever, and her fastest…

Hitchhikers Haunted Run 10k

Last night I convinced Nathan to go on a run with me. It was a beautiful day, sunny and in the 60s. We took Maestro and set up to run to Moes Southwest Grill, eat dinner, and then run home. I decided that this would be for my Hitchhikers Haunted 10k Virtual Race, supporting Give the Kids the World. The medal is awesome: huge, and it glows in the dark!Running to Moes was quite uneventful, and turned out to be exactly 5k! Ha! That amused…

2012 RidgeRunners Turkey Trot 10k

This is a recap of the RidgeRunners Turkey Trot on November 17, 2012. This was my first 10k and was super excited that Marty was going to be running with me. Nathan was supposed to do the 5k with Madre, but she decided not to come, so he ran the race by himself. Go Nathan! I didn’t really train for this race other than some sporadic short runs beforehand. I was more concerned with what I was going to wear! I prepped for the race…
