The Bishop’s Events Vienna 5k & 10k was held on November 25, 2017 in Vienna, VA. This was in partnership with Operation Turbo, a charity that ships “Boxes of Home” to deployed U.S. military stationed around the world, with a focus on those who might not otherwise wouldn’t receive personal mail.
The Holiday Season is upon us and it is time to to celebrate! What is better than festivities and running?! it’s the perfect time to get in a little exercise with all those extra cookies, cakes, pies, and candy that we all be eating.
The great thing about running in December is all the Holiday-themed races! I have picked out 15 races to run in Virginia and Washington, D.C. that look like a blast! Hopefully you will find a festively-themed run near you.
Bishop’s Event’s Burke Lake 5k & 10k took place on October 14, 2017 in Fairfax Station, VA! The event was in partnership with the American Cancer Society and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer for Breast Cancer Awareness month and took place through the trails of Burke Lake Park.
The Clarendon Day Run took place in Arlington, VA and included two different distances: a 5k and a 10k. There was also a Double if you were feeling brave enough to attempt both distances. The Start Line was in Clarendon, and the course took you down hill through the city streets and onto the highway before turning around and ending in Rosslyn. Those who were attempting the Double had to make their way a mile and a half uphill to get back to the start line for the second race.
I had to take a long hiatus on my running due to my pregnancy. I did not have the energy to run while pregnant, so it has been about six months since I’ve been really active. That is about to change, though, because I have a lot of upcoming races to prepare for!
My race schedule for the year is filling up, and I am especially looking forward to the following races.
