Vegan & Gluten-free at the ABC Commissary – Disney’s Hollywood Studios

ABC Commissary is located in Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios. The quick-service restaurant  is a studio-inspired cafeteria with an Art Deco setting. Film posters line the walls, and movie trailers play on the TVs. The Menu The ABC Commissary menu includes such items as Bacon Cheeseburgers, Chicken Breast Nuggets, a Mediterranean Salad, a Chicken Club Sandwich, and a Chicken and Ribs Combo Platter. Allergies As I am both gluten-free and vegan, it is sometimes hard to find things to eat while in the parks. The allergy…

A Look Back at the Hollywood Studios Animation Station

One of my favorite non-ride attractions at Hollywood Studios was the Magic of Disney Animation. In here, you could  participate in exhibits and experience what it’s like to be a Disney animator. They always had sketches up of all the upcoming animated movies, and it was a great place to wander around and get out of the heat! Animation Station at Disney’s Hollywood Studios There is also an Animation Station, where you had a unique hands-on opportunity to draw your very own Disney character sketch,…

Christmas Time at Disney World

Welcome back to the Mickey Monday linkup: the linkup centering around a love for Disney, sharing that love and connecting with others. I hope this linkup will become a great place to turn to for Disney content each week by helping readers find that great mouse-eared content. I’m co-hosting with John from Run. Geek. Run (disney), so of course check him out.  I was at Disney World right when the Christmas Season was beginning. I went down for the Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend and was hoping to…

Carb-loading at Disney World

What better time to eat lots of Disney food and not care about healthy items is when you are running 4 races!! Here is where and what I ate for Dopey Weekend! Art of Animation – Landscape of Flavors After the 5k, we went to our favorite quick-service breakfast spot: Art of Animation. The service was a bit slow (The chef was not Allison, who is usually quick), but my usual meal hit the spot. Later that night, we ate at Be Our Guest. You…

Walt Disney World Marathon

Sunday morning (err…night…hmm…) brought my last 3am wakeup call for the Dopey Challenge. Heidi had crashed in my room the night before, so we would be ready to catch the bus. For the marathon, I was dressed as Orange Bird. A lot of people who aren’t Florida locals (or obsessed people who go do MK all the time), don’t know who Orange Bird is. The Orange Bird is a character created by Disney for the Florida Citrus Commission as a mascot and is a character at Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland at…

Villain’s Bash

After the race, everyone was lining the streets by sitting on the curbs and resting from the long race. There were people everywhere. By the time that our legs were rested and stretched enough, my sister and I went to go on Tower of Terror. The line was about 30 minutes long, but it seemed like an eternity because we were so sore. The ride, though, seemed extra amazing with extra air and drops. Loved it. I would have ridden it again, but the line…

Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-miler

This race was a blast even though it was my first night race and I was already exhausted! From not really getting any sleep the 2 nights prior, to running the 5k that morning, and walking around Magic Kingdom that afternoon, I knew things were going to be interesting. But it all worked out! Marty, Heidi, and I decided to dress up as characters from Peter Pan. I was Mr. Smee, Marty was Hook, and Heidi was the Croc. Me as Mr. Smee Marty and…
